AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE
Last updated: January 2026
Transparency matters to me — especially on a journey built on trust, effort, and doing hard things honestly.
Some of the links on 48 After 55 may eventually be affiliate links. This means that if you click a link and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
At the moment, I’m in the process of applying to and setting up affiliate relationships with various brands and retailers. As those partnerships are established, this disclosure will apply.
What This Means (In Plain English)
- You pay the same price whether you use a link here or not
- I may earn a commission in the future if an affiliate relationship exists
- Any commissions help support this site and the content I create
- If a link ever becomes an affiliate link, I’ll disclose it clearly and appropriately.
What I Will (and Won’t) Recommend
I will only recommend:
- Gear I personally use
- Gear I’ve tested
- Gear I’ve researched and would confidently use myself
I won’t recommend something just because there’s a commission attached — or because a brand asked nicely.
Why Affiliate Links Exist Here
Running this site — and chasing 4,000-foot summits after 55 — takes time, effort, and resources.
Any future affiliate income helps offset:
- Hiking and winter gear
- Filming and audio equipment
- Website hosting and content tools
- The occasional post-hike recovery meal
It allows me to keep the content independent and useful without turning the site into an ad catalog.
Where Affiliate Links May Appear
Affiliate links may appear in:
- Gear reviews
- Hiking checklists
- Trail and hike reports
- Resource pages
- Email newsletters
- YouTube video descriptions
When applicable, affiliate links will always be disclosed within the content itself.
Still Independent
Affiliate relationships do not influence:
- What I choose to review
- How I describe my experience
- Whether I recommend a product
If something doesn’t work for me, I’ll say so — even if that means no commission.
Questions?
If you ever have questions about a link, a recommendation, or how this site is funded, feel free to reach out.
Thanks for being part of 48 After 55 — and for supporting the journey, one step (and one uphill slog) at a time.
